Konstantin Tolkachev considers inviable a bill to ban children of officials to study abroad

UFA, 16 November 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Arina Rakhimkulova/. The bill to ban the children of officials to study abroad, introduced recently in the State Duma, will create an iron curtain in the field of education, the Chairman of the State Assembly of Bashkortostan Konstantin Tolkachev commented on the initiative.
The bill by the State Duma deputy, member of the Communist Party Valery Rashkin, provides a ban to send minor children of state and municipal officials, top managers of state-owned companies and corporations to study abroad. According to the initiator of the bill, this will create an additional incentive to improve the level of education in Russia. Earlier, a similar bill was already introduced in the State Duma and was not supported.
"This is a dead end, which we have already passed. Creation of an iron curtain in the field of education is absolutely contrary to the interests of the state development and is impossible in conditions of transparency. The question is: how to make attractive and effective our education system and to create conditions for the representatives of science? Educational reforms of recent years have been aimed at improving the status of the Russian system at the international level, the expansion of opportunities for the youth of our country. Many students from other countries study in Russia, and our young people are sent abroad in order to gain knowledge. Should we change the positive trends that enhance the prestige of the Russian education?", the Speaker of the republican parliament noted.
