Rustem Khamitov outlined prospects of Ufa development

UFA, 26 October 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. On October 25, the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov delivered a speech at the session of Ufa District Council. He congratulated Irek Yalalov on his election for the post of the city administration head and outlined future challenges facing the Municipality of Ufa in terms of development.
“Five years ago Ufa was another city: both in its content and its awareness and quality of life. We see that in these five years it has been really managed to do a lot: in part of housing construction, infrastructure, and in attracting investment. All these landmark events - forums, symposiums, which took place over five years, are very important to Ufa,” said the Head of the Republic.
Rustem Khamitov noted that the process of urbanization continued in Bashkortostan, and thus the city of Ufa would grow.
“Urbanization should not turn our city into chaos, uncontrolled territory. We need to think about how we will shape the urban space”, said Rustem Khamitov.
According to the Head of Bashkortostan, in the coming years, oil refining and engineering centres will be points of growth for Ufa. These areas need to be developed and innovated; scientific and business clusters should be formed around them.
Among the priorities Rustem Khamitov named the efficient use of municipal land and property, reduction in the budget deficit of Ufa, increasing its revenues, creating a comfortable urban space, solution of public transport issues, improved urban planning and architectural policies.
“We are going to work together; we will do everything to ensure that lives of citizens and residents of our republic will be slightly easier in this difficult time, to ensure their understanding that we live and work in the successful territory, in the successful entity of the Russian Federation”, the Head of the Region marked.
