Konstantin Tolkachev: "Attitude toward Russia is quite friendly in European Council"

The Chairman of the State Assembly of Bashkortostan Konstantin Tolkachev took part in the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. According to him, today it is almost a single place where Russia participates in cooperation activities regarding the future of Europe.

As Konstantin Tolkachev explained on his official webpage a lot of organizational and procedural matters related to the election of the governing bodies had been considered. The Head of the republican Parliament also took part in the work of the Monitoring Committee. The issues of human rights, control over elections, development of local democracy were reviewed. Measures to combat corruption, radicalization, to protect the interests of the Russian-speaking population in Estonia were discussed. The republican Speaker noted with regret that it was failed to establish formal contacts with the Ukrainian delegation.

"Nevertheless, we will look for opportunities to establish a dialogue. Ukraine will receive nothing isolating from us, and we also will not benefit from this conserved conflict", said Konstantin Tolkachev.
