Rustem Khamitov visited Bashkir State University Centre for Molecular Medicine

UFA, 19 July 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Olesya Seregina/. Today, on July 19, the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov visited a Centre for Molecular Medicine at Bashkir State University, it is reported on the website of the republican leader.

The Innovation Centre was created in 2016 at the Department of Genetics and Fundamental Medicine of Bashkir State University Biological Faculty to implement methods of personalized medicine into health care practice in Bashkortostan.

As a result of work conducted by Bashkir scientists in recent decades it has been accumulated a unique experience in the republic and it is now required to share it with medical practitioners. It is assumed that in the future diagnosis, treatment and prevention individual characteristics of each patient's DNA will be taken into account.

At present the laboratory is almost ready for launch. The license for medical activities in "Genetics" and "Clinical Laboratory Services" areas is received, the necessary equipment is launched and running.

According to the head of the department, Doctor of Biological Sciences Elsa Khusnutdinova, the centre features allow to identify genetic disorders in various human hereditary diseases, to detect genetic predisposition to cancer, cardiovascular and other diseases.

The Head of the Republic, having familiarized with the activities of the laboratory, called it a model of the new large-scale project and drew attention to a possibility to promote the experience of Bashkir science.

Rustem Khamitov underlined that the republic had a global challenge on creation of Ufa Scientific Centre for Diagnostic and Genomic Medicine. He instructed the Ministry of Health to make proposals on the centre location, its financing, the number of employees.
