September Elections to the State Duma must be honest and transparent - Putin

UFA, 22 June 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. Elections to the State Duma in September should pass fairly and transparently. The Russian President Vladimir Putin urged for this at the closing plenary session of the State Duma of the sixth convocation.

The Head of State noted that many political parties had already appointed the date of their election conventions and the candidates would have intense competition and debates with opponents ahead of them.

According to the President, the quality of the political system is not determined by the number of parties but their ability to influence the situation in the country.

The Russian President particularly noted the contribution of the deputies of the sixth convocation to the development of the political system. "There was a number of laws adopted that strengthened its democratic foundations, increased transparency and efficiency, established higher standards of political competition", stated Putin.
