UFA, 17 June 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. The Russian President signed an Executive Order on election date for the new convocation of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation set on September 18, 2016. The order comes into force from the day of its official publication.
The deputies of the State Duma of the first four convocations were elected through a mixed electoral system: 225 - by party lists, 225 - by single-member constituencies. At this time, the elections to the State Duma will be held again on a mixed system: in addition to the choice of parties voters will need to select single-mandate deputies from their districts.
Bashkortostan will be represented in the new structure of the State Duma by six single-mandates - it is the number of single-member constituencies for which the republic is divided: Ufa (494,948 voters), Blagoveschensk (537,971), Beloretsk (531 670), Neftekamsk (495 684), Salavat (491 497) and Sterlitamak (522221) constituencies.
If we compare the number of constituencies in subjects of the Russian Federation, we are one of the eight subjects with the greatest number of constituencies – these are the Republic of Tatarstan (6), Rostov region (7), Sverdlovsk region (7), Krasnodar Territory (8), the city of St. Petersburg (8), Moscow region (11), the city of Moscow (15).
The total number of republican deputies in the State Duma will depend on how the voters will cast their votes by party lists.
