Law on increasing retirement age of civil servants is approved in Russia

UFA, 19 May 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. The Federation Council approved a law on gradual increasing the retirement age for civil servants. If it is signed by the President of Russia the document shall come into force from January 1, 2017, RIA Novosti reported.
According to the current legislation of the country, men retire at age 60, women – at 55. Officials and the military receive civil service pension.
The new law provides for a gradual increase in the minimum length of civil state service, which gives the right to a pension for years of service. The document sets forth uniform basic conditions determining the right to pensions for the federal civil servants and civil servants of entities of the Russian Federation and municipal employees.
According to the law, it will be carried out gradual increase in the retirement age (for six months per year) for public sector employees, for men – to 65 years, for women - to 63 years.
