Rustem Khamitov congratulated municipal officials and deputies on Local Self-Government Day

UFA, 22 April 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. On April 21, in Ufa the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov delivered a speech at a gala event dedicated to the Local Self-Government Day. The Head of the Republic congratulated the municipal officials and deputies on the holiday and presented awards to the winners of the contest "The Best Municipality of the Republic of Bashkortostan".

"Thanks largely to you - municipal employees, deputies of local government that the bodies of state power and local self-government are today supported and trusted by citizens, that despite all the difficulties the country and its regions hold their positions. Daily live communication with people, knowledge of specific problems of towns and villages aiming at their solution, involvement in every topical issue of your compatriots - all these are the main components of your work", said Rustem Khamitov.

The Head of the Republic noted that the region preserved economic stability and a balanced budget. The minimum wage in the non-budgetary sector will be significantly increased since 1 May 2016.

“Our common task is to strengthen local economic and social policies, to expand the autonomy of municipalities, their resource capabilities, to encourage people to become involved in implementation of municipal programs and projects,” said the Head of the Region.

As an example, Rustem Khamitov named a program on supporting local initiatives, which had been implemented in seven districts of the Trans-Urals. In addition to the state and municipal funds, people invested their own funds, attracted business resources. For two years 168 projects on construction of playgrounds and sports grounds, repairing street lighting, water supply, roads and bridges, arrangement of solid waste landfills, purchase of municipal equipment and in many other areas were implemented in 88 villages. This practice is planned to be distributed all over the republic.
