Vladimir Putin signed the law on extension of privatization until March 1, 2017

UFA, 29 February 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva /. The period of housing free privatization is extended in Russia. Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Law "On Amendments to Article 2 of the Federal Law" On Enactment of the Housing Code of the Russian Federation".

The document provides for extension of free privatization period of residential premises of state and municipal housing stock held by the citizens as social rent until March 1, 2017. The federal law was passed by the State Duma on February 24, 2016 and approved by the Federation Council February 26, 2016.

In 2015, 3.3 thousand residential premises with a total area of over 146,000 sq m were privatized in Ufa. In general, during the period from April 1992 till 1 January 2016 more than 277,000 residential premises with a total area of over 11 million sq m were transferred into the ownership of citizens as part of the privatization procedure. By the beginning of 2016 more than 90 percent of residential premises of the total number of municipal housing were privatized.
