In Russia participation of foreign software in state and municipal needs procurement is banned

UFA, 20 November 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. In Russia, a ban is imposed on participation of foreign software procurement for state and municipal needs. The exception is made when the required software is absent in Russia. The corresponding decree was signed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev today, on November 20.
Under the document, customers will be required to limit their purchases to the Russian software. The demand for foreign-made programs should be proved in the manner prescribed by the federal law.
It is envisaged to create a single register of Russian programs for computers and databases. The software will be recognized as the Russian one, information on which is entered in the register.
The decision is aimed at implementation of sectoral programs of import substitution in accordance with the plan of priority measures to ensure the sustainable economic development and social stability in 2015, according to the website of the Government of Russia.
