On September 30, at the House of the Republic a meeting of the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov with the delegation of the Republic of Indonesia headed by the chairman of "Justice and Prosperity" political party Muhammad Anis Matta was held. The sides discussed prospects of industrial, trade and economic, scientific and cultural cooperation.
“With regard to the interaction of our business with the business of the republic of Indonesia, we can say that we are still at the initial stage. This also applies to cultural exchange and exchange in terms of education. Just five Indonesians study at our universities: three students – at Petroleum University and two - at Medical University. So there is a sphere for promoting activity and specific development in interaction of business,” said Rustem Khamitov.
“We have a task of strengthening the relations between Indonesia and the Russian Federation. As you can see, every year our relations are improving. Currently, our turnover reached 3.5 billion dollars. We are conducting now serious work to promote these relations even further, especially in terms of business development,” said Muhammad Anis Matta.
In an interview with reporters, Muhammad Anis Matta marked that Indonesia is considering cooperation in such areas as oil and gas processing, agriculture, mining of mineral resources, as well as in research work.
The volume of foreign trade turnover between Bashkortostan and Indonesia in 2014 amounted to more than $ 1 million and was formed mainly due to exports from the republic. Among exported from Bashkortostan to Indonesia products there was synthetic rubber (68 percent) and sulfur (31 percent). Import consisted mainly of filtration equipment and clothing.
