Meeting of Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon took place in Ufa

UFA, 9 July 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Alim Faizov/. On July 9, a meeting of the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov and the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon was held in Ufa. The parties discussed the development of economic, scientific and cultural cooperation, as well as prospects for strengthening inter-regional relations, the press service of the Head of the Region informs.
Before the meeting, Rustem Khamitov and Emomali Rahmon visited an exhibition of paintings by Tajikistan artists of the twentieth century "Masterpieces of the Mountainous Region. Tajikistan. SCO Environment" organized under the auspices of the Embassy of Iran in Russia. The exhibition features more than 300 paintings from the Russian private collection.
Rustem Khamitov noted that trade between Bashkortostan and Tajikistan should develop faster.
In turn, Emomali Rahmon expressed his gratitude to the Head of Bashkortostan for the constant support provided by the authorities of the republic to the Consulate General of Tajikistan in Ufa and marked his interest in deepening cooperation with such leading Russian regions as the Republic of Bashkortostan.
Tajikistan is in the fifth place in the republican trade turnover with the CIS countries, with 6.4%. The volume of foreign trade turnover of Bashkortostan with Tajikistan in 2014 amounted to 67.5 million dollars, and mainly consisted of exports.
Among the products exported from Bashkortostan is oil, soda and caustic soda, plastic, fish, eggs, wood products, metals, asphalt products, asbestos products and other goods. The main positions of imports are food products.
There are 16 joint ventures with participation of the Tajik capital in the territory of the republic. In 2014, it was signed an agreement on economic cooperation between the Khatlon region of Tajikistan and the Republic of Bashkortostan.
