Rustem Khamitov was included in the Commission for UNESCO Affairs

UFA, 10 October 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Catherine Sokolova/. The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov was included in the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO Affairs. On this occasion, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who is the Chairman of the Commission sent his congratulations to the head of the region.
A number of significant projects is implementing in the republic with UNESCO assistance: "UNESCO Associated Schools", "Education for the Future", the UNITWIN UNESCO Chairs Programme aimed at promoting cooperation among universities, "Decade for Education Sustainable Development", "Ufa - UNESCO Creative City", "Dialogue of Cultures of the Peoples of the World" and many others.
In 2012, a mixed natural and cultural site "Bashkir Urals - the Land of Ural Batyr", which includes the "Shulgan-Tash" cave and Bashkir folk epic "Ural-Batyr" were included in the provisional list of UNESCO World Heritage Site. In accordance with the "road map" currently work is being carried out in the republic on establishing a Museum-Preserve at the "Shulgan-Tash" cave, on arranging research and restoration works there, as well as on opening the regional branch of the Russian National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in the republic.
