Public control over state authorities will be established in Bashkiria

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the principles of public control in the Russian Federation. Now the activities of state bodies will be supervised by public figures. According to the document, representatives of public councils will be able to supervise work of local authorities, the police, prosecutors, judges, investigators, as well as to control housing conditions of orphans and mentally ill people.

The law allows inspectors to request the necessary information from government agencies and apply to the court for protection of individuals and non-profit organizations.

Officials and citizens who, for whatever reasons, are not eligible to be members of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation cannot become public inspectors.
