The Russian Government received a proposal to establish a Father's Day. Such initiative was considered by the State Duma as part of the Federal Project of the "Strong family" Party. The federal coordinator of the project is the Chairman of the State Duma Sergey Naryshkin.
A similar appeal to the government was directed by members of the lower house of parliament Alexander Sidyakin, Vyacheslav Lysakov, Olga Batalina, Vladimir Afonsky, Catherine Lakhova and Valery Trapeznikov. According to the deputies, the best option to celebrate the Father's Day in Russia is the third Sunday in June - the most popular date in other countries.
In some regions, this holiday has been celebrated for several years, and in seven regions of Russia it is approved by law.
The public organization "Union of Women of Bashkortostan" also supports the initiative on improving a status and role of fathers in a family. Councils of fathers are created in the republic. On May 28 the city of Neftekamsk for the first time held a "March of Fathers" organized to enhance the prestige of fathers and men who succeeded in their career building and upbringing of children.
