Comfortable urban environment - is a common work of townspeople and professionals - the President RB

The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov opened in Ufa the urbanistic conference "Ufa Tomorrow: Tools for Positive Changes". The forum is dedicated to the integrated development of the area and improvement of urban environment quality. Urban planners, architects and other urban experts from Moscow and abroad made reports at the plenary session.

Rustem Khamitov noted that one of the major issues today was to create a comfortable life for the townspeople, to create a quality urban environment.

According to Rustem Khamitov, Ufa is an interesting city that requires development. He marked good demographic situation in the Bashkir capital.

“At the same time our city has numerous industrial enterprises: they occupy eight thousand hectares from 70 000 hectares of territory, but the green area occupies 20,000 hectares”, the head of the region said.

The environment preservation issue is very topical in the city due to the presence of large oil refineries.

Also, the transportation is also a big problem. There is no decision yet, but as the President of Bashkortostan said "in the near future we will focus our efforts on finding it. We continue to widen the streets so far".

Khamitov also stressed that today in Ufa urban environment is arranged unprofessionally. Conceptual ideas are required to make it healthy.

“Once again, there is no any normal parks per 20,000 hectares of forests, where people could relax with their families”, the head of the republic stated.

Today, according to the head of the region, authorities are beginning to look at the city through the eyes of professionals and experts. Important conferences are held, townspeople join discussions.

The roundtables "City Development Strategy: How to Plan the Future?" and "Right to the City: Positive Potential of Civic Engagement" began after the end of the plenary session. The public lecture "The network city model: role of informal urban communities" will be held as part of the conference in the evening.
