The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov congratulated veterans on Victory Day at a solemn meeting at the City Palace of Culture. The memory of the fallen heroes was honoured by a moment of silence.
Rustem Khamitov said that our people had no larger event, no greater celebration than the Victory Day. It reminds the whole world that it was our country, our army and our people who made a decisive blow to Nazism.
Bashkortostan President emphasized a special nature of the holiday this year.
“The spring of 2014 was special for Russia, for you and me. Reunion of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia has become one of the most important events in recent history”, Khamitov said. “It is symbolic that we once again celebrate our common victory in the year of the 70th anniversary of the Crimea liberation from Nazi invaders.”
Rustem Khamitov recalled that Ukraine and Crimea were freed from enemy by soldiers from our republic too. Among them, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Musa Gareev, Hero of the Soviet Union Maguba Syrtlanova, Hero of the Soviet Union gunner Tazetdinov Gilyazetdinov, Minnigali Gubaidullin. The legendary 112th Bashkir Guards Cavalry Division participated in the liberation of towns and villages of Ukraine.
