Ufa hosts the 38th meeting of the Association of Volga Federal District legislators

Today the 38th meeting of the Association of legislative (representative) state power bodies of subjects of the Russian Federation of the Volga Federal District (PFD) opens in Ufa.

At the meeting of the Association a problem of orphans will be considered. The Chairman of the State Assembly RB Konstantin Tolkachev will deliver a report on protection of legitimate rights and interests of orphans and children left without parental care. The Bashkir parliament speaker will talk about the mechanisms of interagency cooperation to address the problem on the example of Bashkortostan.

Bashkortostan accumulated considerable experience in dealing with problems associated with orphanhood. In recent years, the republic observed a significant reduction in number of orphans and orphanages. Since 2008, six such institutions are closed in Bashkortostan.

The second issue on the agenda of the meeting will be a legislative regulation of environment issues and natural resource management.

In the first half of the day the chairmen of regional legislative assemblies of PFD will visit the Republican Clinical Hospital, will examine the modern technology in perinatal medicine and practice of preventive measures to avoid abandoning newborns. Then lawmakers will examine a specialized orphanage in Ufa.

The guests will see a presentation of innovative projects on social and pedagogical support of orphans and children left without parental care at M.Akmulla’s Bashkir State Pedagogical University.

A plenary meeting of the Association of legislative (representative) state power bodies of RF subjects of the Volga Federal District will be held in the afternoon.
