Amendments to the Constitution RB on renaming the title of the President of Bashkortostan are adopted

Bashkortostan parliamentarians approved in the third reading a bill on renaming the title of the highest official of the republic. According to the adopted initiative, the leader of the region since 2015 to be officially named "The Head of Bashkortostan Republic". This decision was made at the VI plenary session of the State Assembly - Kurultay RB.

During the work over the bill 14 amendments were introduced, two of them - by the Prosecutor's Office RB. Some of the amendments were rejected. Until the end of 2014 titles "The Head of Bashkortostan Republic" and "The President of Bashkortostan Republic" are equivalent.

In 2010, the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a law banning the heads of subjects of the Russian Federation to be named as presidents. The title of the head of the region is defined by the Constitution (Charter) of the subject of the Russian Federation in accordance with historical, ethnic and other traditions.
