Federal funds may be directed to the republic due to the merger of University of Service and Pedagogical University

Bashkortostan may be included in the federal target program supposing financial support of higher education at the level of subjects due to the merger of Ufa State University of Economics and Service and Bashkir State Pedagogical University. The fact that the financing issues of education are relevant for Russia was mentioned by the chairman of the subcommittee of the State Duma for Scientific and Technical Policy Alexander Degtyarev.

“Today there are more than 19 thousand higher educational institutions all over the world. In the beginning of the XXI century the situation has been deteriorated in financial aspect; the number of educational institutions is growing faster than volumes of their funding. This inevitably leads to a decrease in revenues in majority of schools and universities” the deputy said.

According to monitoring results, 136 of 502 public universities and 450 of 930 branches had "signs of inefficiency" and needed reorganization. In other words, more than 25 percent of public universities and nearly 50 percent of their affiliates have not passed the "stress -test".

Currently, a federal target program which offers financial support to the new generation of universities is developed at the level of the Russian Government.
