Rustem Khamitov has met with the deputy head of IMF Fiscal Affairs Department

A delegation of the International Monetary Fund is paying visit to Ufa for rendering technical assistance in tax administration. The deputy head of IMF Fiscal Affairs Department, the head of revenue administration department of the countries of Europe, Asia and the Near East Juan A. Toro Rivera heads the delegation. Rustem Khamitov, the President RB met with IMF representatives.

Rustem Khamitov told the guests about an economic situation in Bashkortostan — petrochemistry, agriculture, mining industry and business.

“Conditions for business conducting, attraction of investments to Bashkortostan are created,” the President marked. “Privileges which are given to investors are significant here. It is clear that only investments can develop our economy. The second year successively we manage to keep inflow of investments in the republic, last year this sum exceeded seven billion dollars.”

In Bashkortostan the banking sector is also developed. By number of banking organisations the republic is on the fifth place in Russia, on volume of granted loans it is on the 12th position. Household deposits increased by 25 percent last year.

“We need assistance in working out an effective financial policy in the region. It is important for us to know what fiscal mechanisms can raise our investment appeal at the regional level,” Rustem Khamitov addressed to Juan A. Toro Rivera. “There is also an issue on possible assistance on your part concerning improvement of professional skills of our experts.”

“Tax administration plays an important role in creation of favourable investment climate,” Juan Toro Rivera marked. “It is important to provide balance in work of tax bodies. At the same time tax loading should be fair, providing favourable conditions for mutual relations with tax bearers. Many tax services from countries all over the world face with necessity to decide this complex task. The purpose of our visit is not only to give advice and recommendations. There is one more task — to learn what occurs in the country through an open dialogue.”

Visit of IMF delegation to Russia began on September 1 and will last till September 17. For this time visiting of Moscow, Ufa, Kazan and Nizhni Novgorod is planned. Last years IMF mission visited the USA, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. In Ufa the delegation will visit the Bashkortostan Directorate of the Federal Tax Service of Russia, branch of "Tax-service" company and Inter-District Office of the Federal Tax Service RF No.39.
