Rustem Khamitov: «SCO and BRICS Summits are the best advertising for Ufa and Bashkiria»

“SCO and BRICS Summits to be carried out in Ufa are a good chance for our republic. In two years Ufa and Bashkortostan will occupy all world news feeds making the best advertising for us. It is important to tell about our region, to raise our recognizability,” Rustem Khamitov said in a live television broadcast of BST channel.

“Our expenses for the Summits carrying out are insignificant — we do not construct anything specially for these events. We modernise our Congress Hall, we repair "Neftyanik" recreation centre and Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre,” the President RB marked. “Our neighbours held large international events; for example, Yekaterinburg welcomed the first SCO and BRICS Summits in 2009. As a result the city and the region became known, investments came there. In Kazan investments are directed to sports objects. Certainly, I would like that our republic hosts such events which would be capable to draw attention of the whole world, and subsequently to attract investments. Last years we managed to do this: for example, only in 2012 investments in the sum of 54 billion rbl. were attracted to Ufa. It is quite a good result, considering that we started from the sum of 10 billion rbl. Until recently there were no investments in Bashkiria at all. We had to formulate and enact new laws — it took some time. We had to find investors, to define platforms for work. We managed to win in some projects — building of several enterprises could begin in Perm, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, but these enterprises will appear here. I am sure that the Summits will become a breakthrough for Bashkortostan regarding investments.
