Elvira Nabiullina has assumed the post of the Chairman of the Central Bank

The ex-assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Elvira Nabiullina has assumed the post of the Chairman of Bank of Russia since June 24. She replaced Sergey Ignatyev on this position, who had headed the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for three terms successively — since March, 2002.

It should be mentioned that Elvira Nabiullina was nominated for the post of the Chairman of Bank of Russia by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in March, 2013. In April the State Duma almost unanimously supported the initiative. 360 deputies voted for the nominee, only 20 voted against her, and one member of the parliament abstained.
