Rustem Khamitov has held a meeting on nature protection legislation observance

The President of Bashkortostan has held a session of permanent operating coordination meeting on law enforcement in the republic. Issues of ecological situation control were considered there.

“Preservation of the environment even more often appears in the focus of public attention, these questions are topical for people. Discussing environmental problems in September-December, 2011, we made several important decisions. We managed to include objects of "Ufahimprom" and Semenovsky gold recovery plant in the project of the federal target program on liquidation of the accumulated ecological damage. And if the program successfully passes the coordination at level of the Government of Russia the next years it will be possible to expect attraction of investments on sanitation of these territories – these will be billions of roubles.

Development of the automated system of air pollution monitoring proceeded. At the expense of the republican budget one more control station and also a mobile laboratory in Sterlitamak were established. Such laboratory is purchased also for Ufa. By the end of the year oil refining factories will establish continuous monitoring detectors at sources of emissions in the capital. Next year four control stations will be put into operation in residential zones. The agreement between the Government of our republic and JSOC Bashneft was concluded, which undertook an obligation on upgrading the manufacturing facilities and introduction of modern technologies.

We should admit still poor condition of the environment, increase in scales of atmospheric air, soil, and water pollution. The situation is not good with processing of solid household waste. The ecological situation in Ufa, Salavat, Sterlitamak requires more detailed and thorough examination, and, the most important thing, improvements. Today struggle against ecological infringements should be transferred into a new level, supported by close interaction of nature protection departments with Office of Public Prosecutor, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Security Service of Russia,” Rustem Khamitov declared.

The President put a priority — to solve a problem of atmospheric air quality control. Besides, Rustem Khamitov urged courts to treat infringers of the ecological legislation more strictly, not being confined, as usually, to minimum penalties.
