President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov and FMJD President Harry Otten discussed World Mind Sports Games-2014 holding in Ufa

On Thursday, February 28, the President of Bashkortostan Republic Rustem Khamitov met with the President of the World Draughts Federation (FMJD) Harry Otten.

At the last World Mind Sports Games in Beijing in December, 2012 the decision was accepted to spend the Games in Ufa in 2014.

Discussion of this subject also became a reason of the present meeting between Rustem Khamitov and Harry Otten.

“Now we can confirm that in June, 2014 the World Mind Sports Games in four kinds of sports- draughts, chess, bridge and go will be held in Ufa,” M-r Otten told the journalists, making comments on the meeting results. “And we are sure that the corresponding agreement will be signed in June current year within the limits of the World Draughts Championship which will be conducted here. In Ufa for a long time already great attention is paid to intellectual kinds of sports, therefore it was chosen as a venue of the event. Ufa is the native land of several world champions on draughts. The relation of inhabitants of your city to similar events and organizational possibilities are those elements, which predetermined the given decision,” the head of FMJD said.

Harry Otten informed that several tens of countries will take part in World Mind Sports Games-2014 in Ufa, and teams will be presented by players of the highest level. All in all about 300 participants.

Now a technical project preparation on World Mind Sports Games is conducted, venues of competitions and accommodation places of participants are defined, and also the Contract on carrying out of the Games is under preparation. Preliminary budget cost of the World Mind Sports Games holding in 2014 is about 100 million rbl.
