Rustem Khamitov had a meeting with the FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov

On February 23, the President of Bashkortostan discussed questions of preparation for carrying out the World Mind Sports Games in Ufa in 2014 with the President of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.

The President of Bashkortostan reminded that the following week in Ufa the World Children's Games would open. «Further we will submit an application for carrying out the World Games for Non-Olympic Sports. It is 2020-2021. It is far, but it is time to discuss it already. The bid campaign will start in 2013-2014. The World Games include a considerable amount of interesting kinds of sports too», Rustem Khamitov continued. «In 2015 we expect to carry out the SCO and BRICS Summits in Ufa. The state of readiness is quite high. Everything that was defined, from the point of view of roads infrastructure improvement, accomplishment of the city, we would do according to the schedule. Thus, I hope that carrying out these events – the SCO and BRICS Summits will be easy for us because everything will be ready and available», the President of the republic informed the visitor.

“Ufa comes into the arena of big events, international, sports, political. I would like to hear your opinion as the experienced and competent person, concerning possibility of carrying out the World Mind Sports Games in Ufa in 2014,” the head of the republic asked Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.

“I would like to congratulate you on the fact that Ufa becomes or can become intellectual capital of the world. Just recently, in December, we met your delegation in China in Beijing at the World Mind Sports Games. It was proposed to spend the World Mind Sports Games here in June, 2014. IMSA – International Mind Sports Association spends these Games. The International Olympic Committee is engaged in physical kinds of sports but all that is connected with mind, with intelligence are our intellectual kinds of sports: chess, draughts, go, bridge, Chinese chess. I think we will include also backgammon, dominoes and so on. In May a congress of the World Association of Mind Sports Games will be held in St.-Petersburg. There elections will be conducted and the concept of the further development of the World Mind Games will be considered. I think that we will make such publicity that Ufa will become an intellectual capital of the world in 2014,” the FIDE president offered.
