Development of physical culture and sport remains top priority for Russia

The biggest international competitions, held in Russia, should encourage people to go in for sports, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin stated, speaking with his annual Message to Federal Assembly in Kremlin.
“Development of physical culture and sport is the most important direction, especially for young people. We organize the biggest international competitions in the country exactly to make physical training fashionable and prestigious occupation”.
The President of Russia is sure new forms of work and wide choice of sports and recovery lessons are necessary here, especially for kids. The President of Russia also believes that it is necessary to support the idea concerning establishment of the Association of student sports clubs.
“This organization is called to contribute to development of student sport and to become a sort of social elevator for talented and active young people and at that it is important that this organization should stay beyond any politics, uniting young people with different political views” – Vladimir Putin said.
Bashkortostan also takes an active part in implementation of these aims. Thus, the world junior hockey championship will take place in Ufa on December 26, 2012 – January 3, 2013. In February 2013 about one thousand boys and girls all from all over the world at the age of 12-15 will gather in Ufa to take part in the VI Winter International Children Games. The children will compete in seven kinds of sport: hockey, biathlon, Alpine ski, ski racing, ski orienteering, figure skating and short track.
