The number of water objects with high level of pollution declines in Bashkortostan

For the last year the quality of water in Bashkortostan has become better in a whole: the number of water objects, with registered high level of pollution cut down from six to two, the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov reported, speaking with the annual Message to State Council-RB.
But in spite of that many water objects are still estimated as polluted. Degradation of lands and soil cover is still going on. The area of erosion-dangerous agricultural lands amounts to 5,5 million hectares – practically two thirds of the total land area.
As Rustem Khamitov underscored in his speech, the provision of human right for safe environment is considered one of the main aims for today.
“Under comfortable life of people we understand safe environment. The priority of ecological well-being is of conscious character for us since every person binds his life as well as life of his relatives with environment”.
The situation with environment in the Republic is already not as critical as some years ago, though it is still considered rather complicated. In the course of the last three years noticeable growth of atmospheric emissions from vehicles is registered in Bashkiria. More than a half of gas-purifier units are found in exploitation for more than 25 years and their efficiency is low. Public society worries about informational closeness of some industrial enterprises, which sometimes give untruthful information about scales of ecological after-effects of their productive activity.
Rustem Khamitov has also mentioned that the Republican forestry fund also needs protection.
“Almost a half of 80 forest fires in 2011 have occurred because of casual handling with fire and because of agricultural sites of fire. About 500 hectares of forests have burnt out” – the President RB reported.
