Rustem Khamitov: “Now Oktyabrsky is not just a town of oil workers but the capital of charity”

“Oktyabrsky should become a town of noble people” – the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov stated at the field meeting of the Republican council for charity, held in the town of Oktyabrsky – “This is the first town, where a charitable marathon started from. For one month and a half great number of children received a support here. Now this town can be considered not just a town of oil workers but the center of charity”.

The head of the town administration Sergey Molchanov said that before starting the marathon “Making Good Deeds Together” they determine the target groups of addressees first.

“We decided to concentrate ourselves on kids” – Sergey Molchanov stated – “And orphans and kids, suffering grave diseases, have become the first addressees of the marathon”.

Thanks to wide coverage of the marathon by mass-media not just local citizens but enterprises joined the action too. For instance, in the course of the action “Help Children Prepare for School” people have managed to help 259 kids, buying necessary materials, uniform and furniture for them. One million 140 thousand rubles have been spent in a whole.

Another action for aiding gravely sick children has also taken place in the town. Donations made up 1 million 240 thousand rubles.
