Rustem Khamitov initiated study of variants to reconstruct the International airport "Ufa"

On August 27, the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov inspected work of the International airport "Ufa" regarding its convenience to passengers, the presidential press-service informs. The head of the republic passed all way which people arriving in Ufa went, from the telescopic passageway to the arrival hall.

Even without that narrow passage for passengers is accompanied with steep staircases with a low ceiling, descent from the second floor to the dark basement, and then ascent to the luggage pick-up area. Rustem Khamitov demanded to consider several variants of arrival zone reconstruction in order that passengers could quickly, comfortably, without superfluous floors and narrow passages come to a luggage carousel.

During visiting of the airport the President of Bashkortostan also started conversation concerning global reconstruction of an air-terminal complex, construction of a new terminal with the area of 15-20 thousand square metres, which will unload the international terminal and will create additional conditions in the internal one.

«We will build the new terminal at the expense of own funds of the airport, the republic, the contracted loans. We will consider also possible variants of state-private partnership. But variants of the airport sale are not considered», Rustem Khamitov said.

International airport "Ufa" is 100 % republic-owned company.

A matter for the airport visiting was an accident which happened one of these days. It occurred on August 18, when the inhabitant of Ufa Svetlana Mustafina came back from Moscow with her disabled child after orthopedic surgery (flight No.151 Transaero airlines).

At boarding in Moscow stewards of Transaero Company took away a wheel-chair from Svetlana Mustafina and assured her that she would be given it back at the exit from the plane at the Ufa airport. Despite her requests, the wheel-chair was not returned to Svetlana Mustafina at the exit from the plane in Ufa. Stewards explained that they would give her the wheel-chair together with luggage and suggested her to move the child by herself to the place of luggage delivery.

Having reached the place of luggage delivery, Svetlana Mustafina set the son on an armchair and went for her luggage. During this moment the child lost his balance, fell onto the concrete floor and hurt his head.

Svetlana Mustafina, the mother of suffered disabled child Ivan Chigasov, addressed to the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov with the complaint against workers of the Ufa airport. The head of the republic demanded bringing to responsibility the general director of Ufa airport Ramil Timirgazin, as much as his dismissal from the post, for inability and unwillingness to organise work of the airport personnel.
