Celebration of the 90th anniversary from the birth date of Musa Gareev will start with solemn meeting

Solemn gathering, devoted to the 90th anniversary from the birth date of the twice Hero of the Soviet Union Musa Gareev, will take place on July 9 in Ufa’s Victory Park and will begin with laying of flowers on his grave. Top officials of Bashkortostan and Ufa, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, toilers of the home front and participants of local military conflicts will take part in it.

Legendary pilot Musa Gareev was born on July 9, 1922, in the village Ilakshidy, Ilishevsky region of Bashkortostan, in a poor peasant family. In 1940 he had been recruited to the Soviet army and after finishing the military aviation school in the town of Engels was sent to the front.

Since September 25, 1942, and till the end of the war Musa Gareev has made about 250 battle flights. He has finished the war, holding the rank of mayor and navigator of air regiment. He was a participant of the Victory Parade in Moscow on July 2, 1945.
