The President of the country supports holding of a Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Ufa

The question concerning holding of a summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Ufa is being solved these days and the President RB Rustem Khamitov told about prospects of such proposal at the 53rd gathering of the State Council-Kurultay-RB of the fourth convocation, held in Ufa today. He has said in particular.

“We’ve sent a corresponding application. The President of the country supports us on this problem but at the same time he says we have to prove our justifiability. Now we are preparing a presentation of Ufa”.

What does a Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit represent? These are 14 countries, including six members of SCO, six countries-observers plus two partners: 14 presidents, official delegations – about 400-500 people in total. Plus about two-three thousand journalists, business communities, guardians etc. The summit has to be held in Russia in June 2014 and if we win the right to hold it here, it will be the most serious challenge. We have to coordinate our work. We have to work hard, solving many problems – beginning with our airport and finishing with the official site of the future summit. If such decision is made, I shall come to you and say: “Colleagues, we have to work hard during 700 days without weekends”. Because we watched the experience of holding similar summit in Yekaterinburg in 2009 – they started working in 2006. The city has to grow prettier. We have to beautify our embankment, the face of the city, all facades etc. We’ll have no other chance to show our city and our Republic to the whole world”.
