Rustem Khamitov has met with the Ambassador of Algeria in Russia Smile Shergi

On February 14 the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov has held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Algeria in Russian Federation Smile Shergi, staying in the Republic on reconnaissance visit, the public affairs service of the President RB reported.

Greeting the VIP guest the President RB has mentioned that Republic of Bashkortostan is considered one of the biggest, powerful and industrially developed Russian regions.

“Our industry is found on the rise and the volume of industrial production grows by 8-10% every year. We successfully cope with social tasks; I mean rise of salaries, housing for people and social infrastructure. Two complexes dominate in our industry – the oil-chemical complex and the machine building one. Besides, building and agriculture are well-developed too”.

Rustem Khamitov has also mentioned the Republic is becoming more and more attractive for foreign investors.

“We formed modern legislation, anticipating corresponding benefits for investors. In the nearest future we intend to complete about 40 big investment projects” – Rustem Khamitov mentioned. At the same time he admitted that the trade circulation between Bashkortostan and Algeria wasn’t yet too high.

“For the last five years our export made up the lion’s share of our trade turnover. We’d like to change this situation. We are interested in cooperation in sphere of oil and gas mining, oil refining, agriculture and cattle-breeding. As soon as we are rich in forests we would be able to have good cooperation in sphere of forestry. We also have very good higher education institutions, which, as I hope, will develop cooperation with Algeria in sphere of training of specialists”.

The Ambassador of Algeria has said many thanks to the President RB for “hospitality and for invitation to this rich region, rich in history, people, culture, science and economics”.

For the reference: the external trade circulation between Bashkortostan and Algeria consists of just Bashkir export. In 2001 Republican export was equal to 4,2 million USD and that corresponded to the 52nd place of 106 countries – the trade partners of Bashkortostan.
