The memory of the victims of political repressions to be revered in Ufa

The memory of the victims of political repressions will be revered in Ufa. Solemn flower-laying ceremony to the victims' monument in the park by the 50th anniversary of the Victory will take place on November 30, the Day of the Memory to the victims of political repressions, Ufa administration reports.

The memory Day is established in 1991 and since then it is marked every year. This is the tribute to the memory of those, who had suffered because of the political repressions, unleashed in 1930 and widely spreading in 1937-1938. According to the official information more than 50 thousand people had been subjected to repressions only in Bashkortostan. At present time about three thousand people, having suffered from the repressions, live in Ufa.

According to information of the Russian Attorney's General Office more than 636 thousand criminal cases in respect of more than 900 thousand people have been reconsidered during the action period of the law “Rehabilitation of the victims of political repressions”. As a result 637 thousand people have been rehabilitated, including many well-known scientists, religious activists and activists of culture, such as, for instance, the Patriarch of Moscow and the whole of Russia Tikhon, our compatriot Rudolph Nuriev and many others.
