The agreement between Bashkortostan and “ROSNANO” for establishment of the center of positron-emission and computer tomography in Ufa is signed in Moscow

On October 27 the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov and the President of JSC “ROSNANO” Anatole Chubais signed a cooperation agreement in Moscow within the frames of the IV international forum “ROSNANOTECH-2011”.

In accordance with the agreement the center of positron-emission and computer tomography with the use of innovational technologies has to be established in the Republic jointly with “ROSNANO”. As a result, Bashkortostan will have the opportunity of modern and high-tech diagnostics of oncological diseases on the earliest stages. The center will be located on the territory of the Republican clinical oncological dispensary and will be put into exploitation in 2013.

In accordance with the agreement the Ministry of health protection of Bashkortostan and the company “ROSMEDTECHNOLOGY” (from “ROSNANO”) will be the curators of the project.

“When I was traveling here, I was looking through the medical statistics and discovered that the death rate per one thousand people in Russia in 2010 was higher than in 1960 and even in 1950” - the President RB said -”After consultations with the specialists I understood that the death rate went up since the number of oncological diseases went up because of bad environment, high gas content in the air, high water pollution etc. The technology, which we are intend to inculcate in Ufa, let us discover oncological diseases on early stages and this is of paramount importance because in such case we receive the efficient instrument for struggle with the oncological illnesses and this is the matter of life and death for us. I hope we will be able to erect this center here and it will start working in 2013. Republic of Bashkortostan is ready for co-financing and for active participation in organization work, so we start working” - Rustem Khamitov concluded.
