Ethnic-political situation in Bashkortostan is estimated as positive in the annual report of Russian Academy of Sciences

The annual report “Ethnic-political situation in Russia and in the adjacent states in 2010” by the Institute for ethnological investigations under the Russian Academy of Sciences contains the article “Bashkiria in the conditions of change of power” by Ildar Gabdrafikov – a senior researcher of the Ufa Scientific Center.

The author estimates the last tendencies, observed in Bashkortostan, rather positively, marking high birth rate, improvements in social sphere, the national policy becomes more reasonable under the guidance of the President RB Rustem Khamitov.

“The change of power in Bashkiria in summer 2010 resulted in tectonic moves in the internal political life of the Republic and in positive public processes. The authority became more open. The sphere of public policy widened. Republican mass-media became relatively free”.

As for Rustem Khamitov, the expert says that “the President of Bashkortostan possesses rather weighty creditworthiness among people, explained by their waiting for turns to the better, including the sphere of international relations and the backing of the President of Russia, so Rustem Khamitov has rather favorable conditions for modernization of both the political and economic systems and for renewal of the managerial staff.
