Rustem Khamitov: “Trans-Ural plays special role in Bashkortostan’s life”

Problems of health protection modernization in trans-Ural zone are discussed today, October 5, at the field meeting of the Bashkir Government’s Presidium in the town of Baimak. The meeting is headed by the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov.
The program of health protection modernization is meant for 2011-2012.
“The main goal of modernization is to raise the branch on a qualitatively new level” – the head of the Republic stated.
For realization of the program for modernization the medical branch has to master 15,5 billion rubles and the program is funded by Republican and federal budgets.
The President of Bashkortostan reported that the federal exchequer already transferred 3 billion rubles for these purposes and told how the medical care should change because of the modernization in trans-Ural zone.
“Trans-Ural zone plays special role in Bashkortostan’s life and here every tenth citizen RB lives. One third of Bashkir territories belong to trans-Ural”.
The President RB highlighted the problems they had to work with. For instance, the infant death rate recently increased in the zone.
“We have to find out why it happens” – Rustem Khamitov said.
The shortage of specialists also adversely affects the quality of medical aid. At present time local hospitals urgently need ophthalmologists, cardiologists and anesthesiologists. The necessary number of pediatricians and general practitioners is absent too.
The chief doctors of three main hospitals of trans-Ural zone told about situation with wages of local medics.
“Your aim is to ensure realization of the program for modernization of health system in the Republic” – the President of Bashkortostan said to the Minister of health protection RB. At that he mentioned that the wages of medics had to be increased by 30% but in reality they had just 15%. The Minister reported that the program was meant for two years and in 2012 the wages will be raised again.
The realization of the middle-term program for economic development of trans-Ural will be also under consideration at the gathering of the Bashkir Government’s Presidium.
