Rustem Khamitov has held a meeting with the President of the International Checkers Federation Harry Otten
The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov has held a business meeting with the President of the International Checkers Federation Harry Otten, who arrived in Ufa to take part in the opening ceremony of the international checkers tournament.
“It’s a great honor for us to receive the competitions, initiated by the International Checkers Federation” – Rustem Khamitov said, opening the meeting – “And we shall do everything for the competitions to be held on the appropriate level.
As M-r Otten reported, the sportsmen from four world continents will take part in the tournament and thousand spectators may watch the games through internet.
The Harry Otten’s proposal concerning holding the world men’s checkers championship in Ufa in 2013 was discussed in the course of the meeting.
“We say “yes” to the initiatives for holding big, medium and even small competitions here” – the President of Bashkortostan said – “By 2013 we will have more opportunities for holding of such championship. We will consider your proposals with pleasure and our response will be definitely quite positive”.
It should be reminded that the world checkers championship (blitzkrieg program) will be held in the capital RB on July 16-17 and the World Cup (Classical program) – on July 18-24. The best players all over the world will take part in the tournament and 120 participants have already arrived in Ufa.
