Salia Murzabaeva says it is necessary to pass the federal law about prevention of family violence

The State Duma deputy, the chairman of Bashkortostan’s feminine parliamentary club Salia Murzabaeva says it is necessary to pass the federal law about prevention of violence in families. In her opinion such high level of family violence in our country is with many respects concerned with the absence of the system of early prophylactics and systematical approach to the problem of family violence in Russia. The problem of family violence prevention as one of the prior ones was raised at the first gathering of the regional feminine parliamentary club in Ufa. The women – the deputies of all levels of representative power, who were the first in the country, establishing the parliamentary club on the base of “United Russia” Bashkir regional division were discussing the new bills, advanced by the State Council-Kurultay-RB “Prevention of violence in families” and “Social-psychological aid to the people, undergoing family violence”.

The regional director of the programs of the UNO sub-regional office “Women for the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia” Damira Sartbaeva has expressed hope that the parliamentary feminine club in Bashkortostan will become an open site for discussion of the most acute problems not just in our Republic and Russia but in the whole world.

For the reference: according to the first report, made by agency “UNO Women”, engaged exclusively in the problems of gender disparity, many millions of women have no access to justice (presentation of the report has taken place in New-York the last week). One fourth of population in 17 of 41 countries, where the experts of UNO were making their investigations, believes that man may beat his wife and not just many African countries, such as Zambia, Ruanda, Mali and some others stand in this list but also such countries as Serbia, Ukraine, Germany, Thailand, Malaysia and India. 18% of population in Russia believes that Russian husbands are righteous for the assault and battery and about 16% - in the USA.

Every fourth murder in Bashkortostan was committed in the sphere of family relations as well as every third trespassing. 1774 crimes have been registered with respect to women.

The UNO gender equality and feminine rights executive director Michelle Bachelette recommends to be more active, attracting women to work in law-enforcement bodies and to work in the public bodies. In her opinion participation of women makes the process of passing more progressive laws easier.
