The President of Bashkortostan offers to erect big oil-chemical productions

The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov offered to develop big oil-gas chemical productions in Russia. ”Now several projects on construction of new and reconstruction of old productions of basic monomers, ethylene, first of all, are discussed by the specialists of the branch” – Rustem Khamitov said, taking the floor at the first international forum “Big Chemistry” in Ufa – “And again the figures that we have to erect the units with the capacity less than one million tons, are brought forward, while the plants with the capacity less than 1,5 million tons aren’t erected in the world long ago and those with the capacity four million tons are designed in the Middle East now”.

The President RB has reminded that the Chairman of the Russian Government Vladimir Putin already raised this problem at the branch’s gathering in Nizhnekamsk. “Agglomeration of oil-chemical productions and realization of more and more wide-scaled projects is the world tendency for the last decades” – Vladimir Putin said that time – “But in Russia we observed the backward movement – splitting of the production processes up and destruction of the traditional contacts between enterprises. As a result the dimensions of an average Russian company in sphere of oil and gas chemistry are miserable as compared with western or eastern giants and neither cheap long-term crediting nor financing of research efforts and experimental development are available for them”.

“Big units are out future” – Rustem Khamitov believes – “In production of monomers we have to put branch and not just narrow corporative interests on the top of the list and, perhaps, somebody would like to stay within the limits of the project for 300 – 600 thousand tons but in this case the state should assure all companies that only big projects are worth to be promoted because only in this case such productions can be called competitive and able to change the situation both in the branch and in the country”.

In opinion of Rustem Khamitov creating big enterprises in the chemical branch and providing them with the staff Russia will be able to make a powerful reserve for the future.

“The state has to help to make these two things and I am sure the business will make the rest” – the President RB concluded.
