More than 880 citizens RB have complained about violations of human rights
The ombudsman for human rights in Republic of Bashkortostan Rim Kaumov has received more than 880 written complaints in 2010. Besides, his public employees have considered more than 1700 complaints in towns and regions RB, as the ombudsman reported at today’s gathering of the State Council – Kurultay-RB. The major part of the appeals is connected with the law-enforcement activity, violations of labor relations and housing problems.
The complaints about housing problems are mainly connected with settling from dilapidated houses. According to the law people, settled apart from such houses, receive the same area they occupied before but following this law leads to the paradoxical situations when families with many children are the matter. For example, the family, consisting of seven people, is moved from an old house to the new 18-square-meter room and the family, consisting of just four people, receives the flat, much larger in area.
“Formally this practice is quite legal” – the ombudsman says – “But it is unfair and fails to solve the housing problems of families with many kids and people with disabilities. In this connection we offer to alter the Housing Code to the State Duma”.
Violations of labor rights, especially illegal dismissals and non-payments of salaries also remain very serious problem for the Republic.
According to the ombudsman more than 84 thousand people have been admitted unemployed in Bashkortostan in 2010 and the arrears of wages made up more than 80 million rubles. At that the number of workers, whose rights on salaries were roughly violated, made up about five thousand people.
According to information, obtained from various sources, the real arrears of wages exceed the official statistical data many times” – Rim Kaumov said.
