Rafael Khakimov has held meeting with Tatar community in Ufa

The director of the Institute of history under the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan, doctor of political sciences Rafael Khakimov had a talk with the representatives of Tatar community RB in the Ufa mosque “IKHLAS” yesterday. He presented the comers his book “Tatar Spirit” and told about the necessity to learn native history.

As he said, at present time Tatar youth often doesn’t know Tatar language and for strengthening of national self-consciousness one should study the native history without distorted facts and restore the memorable places of interest. Thus, Tatarstan invests serious money in revival of the city of Bulgar now, on which site the historical reserve is to be opened.

Rafael Khakimov has mentioned the role of Tatars in history of Russia.

“Together with Russians Tatars formed national irregulars and drove Poles away from the country during the intervention” – the scientist stated – “Tatars stood up for the Fatherland during all wars”.

As Rafael Khakimov said, some politicians always tried to slit Tatars into small ethnic groups for the political purposes – Siberian Tatars, Crimean Tatars and other Tatars, so it is necessary to strengthen the national self-identity “Tatar”.
