Michael Camper: “Bashkir Muslims are less problematic than in Netherlands”

Bashkir and Tatar Muslims are less problematic than the European ones. The Professor of the University of Amsterdam Michael Camper, who arrived in Ufa to take part in the international conference “Russia and Islamic world: history and prospects of civilized interaction”, uttered this point of view to the news agency “Bashinform”. In his opinion the absence of the Muslim problem in Russian regions is explained by the fact that Muslims here are integrated in the multinational and multi-confessional community. Besides, Muslims inhabited the lands of modern Bashkortostan and Tatarstan long before the arrival of Russian resettlers. The situation in Europe is totally different. Muslims – mainly the Arab migrants – live separately. They don’t intend to be integrated in European economics and form their own communities, what Russia never knew.
More detailed interview with Michael Camper is available on the site of the news agency “Bashinform” in the division “Details”: http://www.bashinform.ru/podrob/350343/.
