Contribution of Karim Khakimov in development of relations with the Middle East is discussed in Ufa

The “round table” “Russian diplomacy in the East” is held in the Congress-Hall within the frames of the international conference “Russia and Islamic world: history and prospects of civilized interaction”.
As the Head of Russian Federation Council’s international relations Agency Andre Baklanov said, Karim Khakimov has laid the foundation of diplomatic relations with the Middle East countries.
“During five years I worked as the Ambassador in Saudi Arabia” – he said – “Both the Arab political leadership and the public activists said the Soviet Union was the first state, which extended its recognition to this state. The Soviet Union stands on the top of the list of the countries, which once recognized Saudi Arabia. And this is the great merit of Karim Khakimov”.
The senior pedagogue of the Bashkir State University, candidate of historical sciences Ruslan Khairetdinov told about Karim Khakimov’e experience on making the Soviet-Arab relations.
“Khakimov worked in difficult conditions but at the same time the results of his activity were really impressive” – Ruslan Khairetdinov underscored – “For a short period of time the Soviet diplomatic mission has managed to gain real results and favor of the Arabian monarchs. In many respects these results have been achieved thanks to competent work of Karim Khakimov”.
