Bashkir law-makers will make adoption more attractive

The deputies of the State Council-Kurultay-RB have considered the bill “One-time cash benefit for citizens, adopting one or more children in Republic of Bashkortostan” on Wednesday, March 2, at the meeting of the State Council committee for social policy and health protection.

According to the bill the citizens, adopting a child, receive the one-time cash benefit and these means can be spent for improvement of the family’s living conditions, for medical treatment and education of an adopted child.

“We intend to make the adoption more attractive” – the chairman of the committee Albina Burangulova says – “And hope the number of foster families will start growing but the list of the persons, which can pretend to become foster parents, will be restricted”.

As she says, for the last year the number of foster parents went down. The measure of social encouragement, offered by the committee, has to become a stimulus for adoption.

Several Russian regions have already fixed the one-time cash benefits for the foster parents, in particular, these are Kaliningrad, Kirov, Penza, Tambov, Ulyanovsk, Krasnodar, Perm and Stavropol regions. The amount of the benefits varies from 50 to 615 thousand rubles.
