Constantine Tolkatchev: “Multinationality of our population is its invaluable treasure”

The chairman of the State Council-Kurultay-RB Constantine Tolkachev commented on the decree of the President RB Rustem Khamitov concerning announcement of 2011 the Year of international agreement, the press-service of Bashkir parliament reports.

“It is vitally important for our Republic, where representatives of more than 100 nationalities live in peace and harmony, and by the index of poly-ethnicity Bashkortostan doesn’t yield to any other Russian region. And we understand the multinationality of our population as our invaluable treasure and cultural variety and not as a problem. Such approach is the base of the national policy, conducted in the Republic” – the speaker of Bashkir parliament stated.

He added that Bashkortostan was the unique Russian region, where the representatives of many nationalities accumulated the invaluable historical experience of joint habitation in friendship and harmony and futile attempts of some might-have-been politicians to revise the international agreement, reached in Bashkortostan, were condemned to complete failure.

Constantine Tolkatchev expressed assurance that “further step-by-step development of our Republic is impossible without taking the accumulated historical experience, well-balanced and thoughtful use of the cultural and spiritual values, worked up by its nation in the course of many centuries, into account”.
