For Bashkir Muslims it is more convenient to live by wintertime. The Supreme Mufti, the Chairman of the Central Clerical Muslim Dept of Russia Talgat Tadjuddin told to the news agency “Bashinform” about it.
“There is no need to shift the time” – the Mufti said – “I many times told about it during my prayers. When the noon should be at 12 o’clock, in our winter it comes at 13:30 and in summertime – at 14:30. This time isn’t comfortable for us and physiologically it is not quite normal. All Muslims say it would be better to begin the Mohammedan prayers one hour earlier. I stand for the winter time as it is now and don’t want to change it”.
Many Muslim prayers are done depending on the Sun location during a day.
As the Supreme Mufti said, the transition to the summer time causes many problems. For example, the last prayer can be done in Bashkiria in June and July only after midnight because sunset occurs at 11 o’clock.
The debates about abolition of the summer and winter time continue long ago. In October 2010 several parliamentarians of the State Duma introduced the bill “About transition in Russia to the international system of time zones”. In Bashkiria this question was raised by the deputy of the State Council RB Nazib Yamilov in the form of the bill concerning transition to Moscow time.
