The 24th of December is the Day of Constitution RB

The Day of Constitution of Republic of Bashkortostan is celebrated on December 24. The main law RB was passed by the Supreme Soviet 17 years ago – on December 24, 1993.

For the first time the main law was fully elaborated by the Republic self-dependently (the previous constitutions per se literally represented the shortened variants of the Soviet and Russian constitutions). The last Constitution was passed during rather severe and very responsible historical period. It became the regulator of the vital activity of Bashkir population and the state.

The Constitution set the basics of a democratic lawful state and socially-oriented policy. Such notions as multi-party system, free elections, the Constitutional Court, the Ombudsman for human rights, the Audit Chamber and others for the first time appeared in everyday life of our society together with the Constitution.
