President RB intends to protect Bashkir language

The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov intends to protect Bashkir language from the pressure of the unified cultural environment. He stated about it during today’s press-conference, devoted to the first 100 days of his presidency in Bashkiria.

“At present time about two million Bashkirs live in the world” – he said – “So Bashkir language has to be studied and protected. In conditions of the total globalization it experiences strong pressure from Russian and English languages – much more popular. But every language, including Bashkir language, is unique. This is the phenomenon of the world culture and as every such phenomenon it must be found under protection and we have to help Bashkir language to survive, backing it, sometimes even artificially”.

In such situation the talks about the irrelevance of studying Bashkir language at schools are absolutely out of date in opinion of the President RB.

“Stop waiting for such decision from me” – the President RB said – “I can’t prejudice the vitality of the language with the stroke of my pen. Please, don’t’ induce me to do it and those, who try to do it either deliberately or unknowingly, lead to aggravation of the international relations and we mustn’t do it. All nations on the territory of our Republic live and have to live in peace and harmony and those, who try to stir an international discord, are real criminals”.
