Rustem Khamitov offers to start production of snowcats on the base of the machine-building company “VITYAZ”

The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov offered to organize the production of snowcats – special snow-compacting vehicles for preparation of the pistes – on the base of the machine-building company “VITYAZ” in the town of Ishimbay – one of the world leaders in production of the surface off-road vehicles, meant for transportation of freights and people in extreme climatic conditions.

In his opinion this production can become rather promising. The imported snowcats, used on the Russian pistes, cost up to 500 thousand euro and it is quite possible to start production of cheaper snowcats in Bashkiria. The company from Ishimbay possesses necessary potential for that.

The plant was established in 1977 and initially produced the caterpillar transporters by the order of the Ministry of defense of the USSR. In the 90s after the public contracts had been abruptly cut down, the plant turned out to be in very difficult situation. At present time the plant produces the transporters for transportation of indivisible and long loads with the length up to 20 meters and weighing up to 50 tons. These transporters have proved to be the best vehicles in different climatic conditions in Krasnoyarsk and Khabarovsk regions, in Tomsk and Tyumen regions and in Republic of Sakha-Yakutia.
